Emmet
Kane works from his workshop in County Kildare where he comes from
five generations of Master Carpenters. He creates an innovative
selection of sculptured and functional pieces from native Irish
hardwoods. Each of Emmet's creations is individually crafted for
the corporate and private gift market in Ireland, Europe and the
United States. He also accepts specialist commissioned work. A Woodturner
for thirteen years, Emmet sources most of his own timber locally.
He primarily creates one-off pieces, particularly hollow forms with
textured or ebonised finishes. Recently he has introduced precious
and semi-precious metals namely gold-leaf, platinum and copper.
In 2001 Emmet Kane was re-elected to the Board of the Crafts Council
of Ireland for a further three year term and is President of the
Irish Woodturners Guild since 1999.
